The travel show season kicked off Lunar New Year weekend in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center. Thousands of visitors were entertained center stage with a Taichi performance hosted by Henan Tourism as well as cooking demonstrations hosted by the China National Tourist Office New York.
China-US Tourism Year 2016
Throughout 2016, the Department of Commerce has been working with the China National Tourism Administration to promote travel and tourism between the United States and China. This has helped spread the economic benefits of Chinese tourism throughout the United States while also complimenting the broader goals of enhancing the tourism experience, improving cultural understanding and instilling an appreciation for America's & China's natural landscapes. Needless to say, this will be an ongoing venture.
Henan Tourism at CITM 2016
The China International Travel Mart (CITM) is the largest professional travel mart in Asia. Held in Shanghai this year, the event saw participants from all sectors of the tourism industry congregate at this annual travel fair. Henan Tourism's booth saw much traffic as vendors and buyers showed increased interest in learning the history and culture of the "Cradle of Civilization."
May 23 - 27 IMFT 2016
The International Mayor's Forum on Tourism 2016 is hosted in Zhengzhou. This year's theme is "Tourism, Bond of Interaction between cities." The purpose is to bring together the knowledge and experiences from mayors of worldwide tourism cities as well as experts from international organizations through a series of related activities.
Taichi at Times Square
Henan Tourism successfully had a flash mob Taichi event in the center of Times Square on May 14. Amidst thousands of spectators, over a hundred people performed taichi at the Crossroads of America in New York City.
Henan Tourism at LA Times Festival of Books
Henan Tourism with China National Tourist Office, Los Angeles attended the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books held at the USC Campus in April. The festival was a combination of literary and cultural events, music, film, and art screenings
San Diego Travel & Adventure Show 2016
Back in California, Henan Tourism was present at the 2nd annual travel show held at the San Diego Convention Center January 16-17. Interest level in Shaolin Kungfu and the Shaolin Temple were high as we showed many attendees Henan's multitude of offerings. What an excellent way to kick off the China-US Tourism Year, 2016
New York Times Travel Show 2016
This year's travel show season began at New York's Jacob Javits Center January 8-10.
Henan Tourism was proud to present the very first cultural performance ever at the show for China. Hailing from Chenjiagou, Henan, Master Sun is the 12th generation descendant of the Chen Style Taijiquan. Our Taichi performers wowed the audience so much that there was standing room only!
Henan Tourism on CNN
As part of our mission to increase the brand recognition of "Kung Fu Henan", we've extended our marketing campaign to now appear on CNN's daily news program "New Day." In addition, Henan Tourism's spots will appear at 48 airports across the United States featuring CNN programming.

For our friends in the Big Apple, be sure to keep an eye out for our "Kung Fu Henan" ads in hundreds of cars in the subway system.
Henan Tourism at Nasdaq
After the official kick-off festivities for our campaign, we were invited inside the Nasdaq Stock Market for exclusive access to the inner workings of this famed exchange platform. We were honored to have Director Yaping Xue and Assistant Director Hui Ma of the China National Tourist Office New York preside over the festivities. The beginning of our campaign coincides with the visits to New York of President Jinping Xi of China as well as Pope Francis and also celebrates the 66th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
Henan Tourism in Times Square
This morning at 11am Henan Tourism kicked off our latest series of brand promotion videos at New York's "BIGGEST and BADDEST iconic" advertising media, the seven-story, 120 foot tall Nasdaq screen. Four different videos will introduce locals and visitors alike to the wonders of Henan, with focus being placed on the ageless Shaolin Temple, incomparable Shaolin Kungfu, Taichi, the majestic Longmen Grottoes, and myriad other attractions of our home province. We are very proud to bring Henan to New York Times Square for all to see.
Special Olympics World Games LA2015
From 7/24 through 8/2 of 2015 the Special Olympics World Games took place at different venues all over Los Angeles. It was the largest single sporting event to happen in Los Angeles since the Olympic Games in 1984. Henan Tourism was honored to take part in the event in cooperation with the China National Tourist Office at the UCLA Campus for the entire duration of the World Games. We had the opportunity to support the athletes from Team China, attend the opening and closing ceremonies, and various sporting events. Henan Tourism was particularly honored to be chosen to award medals to the special athletes at the awards ceremonies. Many came by our booths, and we left greatly inspired by the spirit and greatness of the Special Olympics World Games.
6th Annual International Wushu Tournament
This marked the sixth year the Shaolin Wushu Center, LA hosted the International Wushu Tournament. Teams from all over the world were invited to participate in the competition. The weekend event, held on May 23, 2015, was filled with activities that included traditional and contemporary Wushu competition, Wushu performance and an exchange of martial art skills and culture.
We are proud to be the first Chinese Provincial Tourism Bureau to undertake a long-term agreement at LAX's newly renovated Tom Bradley International Terminal for destination brand marketing in conjunction with China National Tourist Office, Los Angeles. Beginning 12/16/2014, Henan Tourism's videos can be seen at every single boarding gate at Tom Bradley International Terminal. China International Travel Mart 2014 (CITM)
We attended the CITM in Shanghai in November 2014. CITM is an annual travel/trade show, the largest of its type in China. Our home office of the Henan Provinical Tourism Bureau had a beautifully decorated pavilion, with the delegation of Henan led by Director Yixing Wang. The 18 wonderful cities of Henan as well as local land operators were well represented at CITM and we had a great time as always.

Jakarta Product Presentation
A recent product presentation in Jakarta successfully introduced Henan Province to local travel agents and media. Interest was high and sparked excitement amongst the agents for new travel opportunities.
San Diego Travel & Adventure Expo
The Henan Provincial Bureau was represented at booth 600 of the inaugural San Diego Travel & Adventure Show. The event exceeded everyone's expectations and was a great success as we met local travel agents and members of the traveling pubic. We'll definitely be back again next year.
Long Beach Travel & Adventure Expo
The Long Beach Travel & Adventure Expo had a fantastic turnout, as thousands packed the halls of the Long Beach Convention Center on Feb 8 & 9. This is the first apperance for the Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau in the Los Angeles area. Interest was saprked for visitors, as hundreds stopped by the booth to get informational kis and maps of the province.
Lunar New Year, Year of the Horse
A ritual of tradition, two dancing dragons helped the Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau ring in the Year of the Horse at an invitational dinner. A select few of Los Angeles' largest tour operators as well as representatives from China National Tourism Organization garced us with their presence at the informal dinner to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau established a US based office in December 2013 to promote awareness and tourism to the region. A welcome luncheon was attended by local print and tv media, the three major Chinese carriers and top tour operators in the Los Angeles area. The delegation from Henan signed the contract with Strategie USA as their marketing partner in the US. Subsequent media tours included Toronto, Dallas and New York to mark this historic cooperation.
